Artem is soon launching The People’s Studio in Gangtok in November - a physical space to showcase and discuss the works of artists of the region, and to create opportunities for critical dialogue on art and culture. Coming from a background in the education space, Komal previously developed and led the Education Quality Improvement Program (EQUIP), Sikkim as the Program Director and scaled the program to 120 government schools across the state. She completed her Masters in Education at Harvard University and during her Bachelor of Arts course at Boston University, she also studied sculpture. Bringing the values from the education sector, Komal is deeply passionate about building communities that learn and engage critically together and believes that supporting the work of artists, who think critically about their world as they create, is a powerful way to bring personal, social and political transformation in society.
